New sonic as you should know is just terrible in general and it's nice to see an indie developer take it up a notch, or several notches.The music is absolutely wonderful, and criminally underrated. And I love that, this game pulls it off in a way I haven't quite seen on this level, it is literally the next evolution of the classic sonic formula, everything old sonic from the 90's did, but bigger and better. You don't want to stop, you just want to keep running and platforming. The game is just gorgeous to look at and very colorful with fun visuals and cartoony design.Where the game excels is the gameplay: you get into this groove, helped along with the incredible soundtrack that is disgustingly underrated and crisp visuals and fast paced gameplay. It didn't feel like an indie game at all and instead felt like a long lost game from those libraries the graphics were emulated perfectly. I finished the game multiple times with multiple characters, and definitely see myself playing it even more afterwards.The game straight up looks like it belongs in the Sega Saturn era, or maybe PS1. Freedom Planet I believe is that game, the game to finally surpass the legendary Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
